GERRARD LAUDS KANE-ALLI PARTNERSHIP

Liverpool legend Steven Garrard has lauded the partnership between Tottenham Hotspur and England pair Harry Kane and Dele Alli.

The Reds legend likened the combination of the duo to that of Fernando Torres and him when they both featured for Liverpool.

Gerrard said it took him 26 years to find a perfect partner in Torres at Anfield in 2007. Their partnership was highly rewarding with the pair helping the club to second place in the 2008/09 season. Gerrard seems to hold their combination in high regard and has added that Dele Alli may have found his Torres in his link-up play with Kane.

The duo seems very at ease with each other with both players seemingly comfortable with the rewards of their play. Kane earlier said they both have “a great understanding.”

“Dele’s a great player. As a striker, when you make the runs, if you’ve got a player who can get on the half turn and play it forward quickly, it’s perfect,” Kane said of his partner last year when their combination started stirring interests.

“He’s found the perfect partner for himself at a young age – which is great for Tottenham, and great for England as well,” the retired player said.

“It took me maybe 26/27 to meet Fernando Torres. He’s at such a young age and he’s met Harry Kane and they’re absolutely great for each other,” Gerrard added.

There have been great partnerships in the Premier League in the past. Aside Gerrard-Torres partnership. Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge combination was great for the club as well. Kane and Alli could have something to work on but Christian Eriksen and Alli partnership is another very rewarding affair that coach Mauricio Pochettino has been exploiting.
