HAPPY WITH WIN

The Chelsea manager Roberto di Matteo has said that he is extremely satisfied following the 4-2 win over Reading in the second game of the season for the European champion. Chelsea managed to take six points from the opening two matches of the Premier league season. They currently have a six-point advantage over the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool, which is a good position to be in at this stage of the season according to the Chelsea manager. Chelsea almost lost the advantage in the match after Reading were leading at half-time 2-1 after two quick goals.

Frank Lampard had earlier given the lead for the European champion’s after Eden Hazard was fouled in the penalty area for the second consecutive game. Just when it seemed that Reading will pull off the ultimate shock at this early stage in the season, Gary Cahill scored from a speculative shot outside the area to equalise. Fernando Torres then scored from what appeared to be in an offside position to give Chelsea the lead in the match. Eden Hazard then finally gave the ball to Ivanovic after a break away in the final minute of injury time to confirm the three points for the London club.

“The balance was always going to be the key. It’s all great and everyone wants to see a lot of flair play, but to win games you need a good balance to it. That’s going to be the challenge. There was some good football, a lot of rotation between our players, and we attacked in numbers, created several chances as well, and the players were enjoying themselves,” said Roberto di Matteo after the match. Despite the victory, the former West Brom manager has called for a balance within the squad when it comes to attacking and defending.
